In this form it was produced during following years: 1955 Production of the Unimog 404 began. It was the first bigger Unimog. Under the designation 404.1, it was produced virtually unchanged until 1980. In 1971, the range was expanded to include the 404.0 model with the Unimog 406 cab. 1980 End of production of this model. As successor are considered heavy-duty Unimogs, produced since 1975: Unimog 425 and Unimog 435.
